Here is a little bit about us. It is funny how things happen sometimes. Jennifer has had horses for as long as she can remember and it has always been a dream of hers to breed them. For years, Jennifer has been involved in starting and training horses. Getting them started under saddle for their owners, helping people develop partnerships and taking on problem horses. Over the course of these years her training program was developed and fine tuned.
Jennifer was a die hard Quarterhorse girl, picking a Quarterhorse as her own mount. For years she had tried out different events in the competitive horse world. However, nothing she tried ignited her passion.
Then one day in 2009, she sold an old horse trailer to this wonderful lady from the Okanagan. She was the one who suggested that Jennifer should really try endurance riding. That was the day Jennifer's endurance riding adventures began. She contacted the Endurance Riding Association of BC and they put her in touch with a mentor nearby. This mentor guided Jennifer through the first year of preparing her Quarterhorse gelding Oz, for endurance racing.
Jennifer and Oz's first ride was the Home on the Range 25 mile endurance race in March 2010. First endurance riding competition and they placed in the top 10 in a field of over 70 horses! Despite hauling through a blizzard, for over 14 hours, camping in subzero temperatures and nearly being unable to compete as Oz had stepped into a hole after exiting the trailer, she was hooked. The endurance ride covered some breath taking scenery. Just her and her horse, in sync, a true partnership, taking care of each other as the miles rolled by.
Over the next few years, Jennifer continued to compete in endurance racing on Oz. The pair went on to win first place at the BC Endurance Legacy Games in team and individual as well as the BC Championships - 25 mile class. Jennifer had been watching the Arabians she competed against over those few years and found them to be incredible athletes. They were sweet and kind, courageous with an unmatched stamina. When her Quarterhorse would start to tire, they would get stronger. So, that die hard Quarterhorse girl bought her first Arabian.
That first Arabian was a young bay gelding. He over flowed with personality and never ceased to amaze. His intelligence and train-ability. His courage and stamina won Jennifer's heart.
And so began her love affair with Arabians. That one Arabian led to three more and Jennifer's dream of breeding horses began to take form. And thus Savvy Arabians was born. The focus on Savvy Arabians being high performance sport and endurance horses. Arabians that are an exemplary example of what an Arabian should be. Beautiful, strong, versatile with a sweet and kind disposition. Your partner in whatever venture you pursue.
